Eeny Meeny Miny Moe, Which Foundation Should I Choose?

I’m usually not a foundation girl because I’m lazy; however, I realized that if I want to have somewhat of a perfect makeup look, it is necessary! Foundation helps if you want to pack on some powder, conceal, contour, or highlight. I’ve tried many different foundations and I like many. I’m still wanting to try more because I haven’t found one that I absolutely love yet. Below is my review of different foundations. Please note that this is my personal opinion.

Before I start, the picture to the left is a regular picture of me without any foundation or any makeup. For the following review of different foundation, I did not use any face primer or anything else to prep my face.

Below, you will see new pictures of my face with foundation on half of my face (on the right side) and the other half (left side) will have no foundation. This is for comparison/coverage purposes.

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation:

I wear shade color 250 (for medium skin with warm and very peach undertones) and I sometimes wear the shade color 260 (for medium skin with neutral undertones) as well. The 250 matches my skin more. I really like this foundation because it feels lightweight and doesn’t look cakey either. There is a very light scent to this foundation that I like. This is a light to medium coverage and I don’t need a lot of product to cover my face. The foundation blends well but dries very quick. So it is best to work sections of your face instead of your whole face at once. It is not necessary to set this foundation either. Another great thing about this foundation is that my pores don’t show through it. This foundation is $34 (can be purchased here) and I think it is a very great price point considering the size of the foundation and the quality. Overall, I like this foundation and I tend to grab this one to use a lot.

 

YSL All Hours Full Coverage Matte Foundation:

I wear shade color BD50 Warm Honey (tan; golden undertone). This is suppose to be a full coverage foundation but honestly, it is more of a light to medium coverage. In terms of coverage, this is very similar to the fenty beauty foundation coverage, except that it covers just a little bit more (but not that much more). The foundation is lightweight and it mostly covers my pores. Sometimes a few of my pores show through, but when I use primer before this foundation, it solves the problem. The foundation blends well and is not necessary to set with powder. I like this foundation, but the $58.00 price point (can be purchased here) for the amount of foundation you get is more on the expensive side; you may be happier with a fenty beauty foundation purchase. I try not to use this foundation as much because it is more expensive, but I like to use it for special occasions and for pictures.

Marc Jacobs Shameless Youthful-look 24H Foundation SPF 25:

I’m wearing the shade color Medium Y390 (medium with golden undertones). I need to go darker because this shade doesn’t really match my skin color. The smell of this foundation smells like sunblock (probably because the SPF) and reminds me of summer pools. SUMMER IS ALMOST HERE! The foundation is medium coverage, but I had to build the foundation (using a lot of product for multiple layers). I had to build the foundation because it wasn’t blending well for me. Like the foundations above, this foundation is pretty self-setting. The $46.00 price point (can be purchased here) for the amount you get is decent. I haven’t wore this foundation much mainly because I need to get a different shade color.

Jouer Essential High Coverage Creme Foundation:

This review is based on sample packages I got. The 33 new shades haven’t been launched yet. I mixed the shade colors caramel and almond to get this shade; however, there was probably a better shade I could have used instead of mixing these. The foundation is a bit heavier but it does not take that much product for coverage. This foundation gets a bit cakey and creases. So I’m not much of a fan of this foundation, but I’ve only used this foundation a couple of times through sample packages. The foundation is $38.00 (can be purchased here) but you don’t get that much product.

 

 

Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Foundation:

I’m wearing shade color 3N1 Buff (medium with neutral undertones). I think I need to go one more shade darker, but I remember that shade being a little too dark for me. There isn’t many shades to choose from. This is suppose to be a full coverage but it is more of a light to medium coverage for me. It blends well but if you want full coverage, you may want to build the foundation. This foundation has no scent and is lightweight. This foundation shows my pores, maybe it won’t if you build the foundation but I don’t want it to look cakey. The $48.00 price point (can be purchased here) for the amount you get is decent.

Huda Beauty Faux Filter Foundation:

I wear shade color Amaretti 310G (light medium skin tones with golden undertones). This foundation is a true full coverage and creates a flawless “photoshopped” skin look (perfect for pictures). I love the smell of this foundation but it is pretty strong and some may not like the smell. The foundation blends well and a little product goes a long way; however, the foundation needs to be set with powder because it is pretty sticky. The foundation does feel a little more on the heavy side. So, I only wear this foundation for picture purposes because it does feel heavy and I just don’t like going about my day with a heavy feeling face. The $40.00 price point (can be purchased here) for the amount you get is good.
