I gave Colourpop a second chance & I’m so glad I did!!

Hi friends! I apologize for being absent for a while. I’ve been studying for the bar exam. Now that the bar exam is over, I can start blogging again. I have exciting things I want to share with you all this year and I can’t wait for what this year will bring! I hope you’ll enjoy reading this post!

Colourpop Cosmetics is slowly becoming one of my favorite brands to use recently. My first introduction to Colourpop was through one of my highschool friends, Kaylea (more specifically her youtube video here). She made all the colors look so good and I was intrigued by all of the different liquid lip colors that Colourpop had. I started out with the matte and ultra satin liquid lipsticks back then.

The picture to my left is the swatches of all the ultra satin liquid lipsticks I have. If you are looking for cheap satin liquid lipsticks, these are great for the price you are paying. These aren’t my favorite liquid lipsticks but I also don’t have any complaints about them either. You can purchase them here for $6.50 each.

The picture to the right is the swatches of all the ultra matte liquid lipsticks I have. These ultra matte liquid lipsticks were the reason why I didn’t like Colourpop at the beginning nor really cared about the products it had to offer. Everytime I used these, it was like a monster had died on my lips. These made my lips so dry, made my lips feel so heavy, and just didn’t look pleasant on the lips at all. Further, everytime the color would transfer, the remaining color (what is left on my lips) would be so hard to take off (with a regular napkin). So I would look kind of ridiculous with spots that didn’t have the color. When I would try to add another layer to cover up the spots, it just didn’t look right. Overall, I HATED these matte liquid lipsticks. I would not suggest to buy these unless Colourpop changed its formula to something different, which I have no idea whether it did or did not. You can purchase the matte liquid lipstick here for $6.50 each.

HOW COLOURPOP SLOWLY WON MY HEART!

I am a huge lippie person, so when Colourpop drop its new lippie stix, I got my hands on some, despite the fact that I did not really like Colourpop. To my surprise, IMG_1046I really liked the formula in it. It was creamy and felt really light on my lips. I thought the price of it was also awesome for the quality! I wore the lippie stix for awhile after purchasing them and they never disappointed me. The lippie stix are not transfer proof, but I didn’t have a problem with that because I could always apply it again and it won’t look clumpy. The picture to the right is swatches of some of the colors that I have. You can purchase them here for $5.50 each.

It wasn’t until last year that I had really started to get more into the brand. I saw the eyeshadow palettes that Colourpop was coming out with, the liquid eyeshadows, the highlighters, etc. With all of what Colourpop had to offer, my interest piqued.

EYESHADOW PALETTES

I really like all of the eyeshadow palettes I have from Colourpop. They are very affordable and very high quality compared to the price. Most of the colors are pigmented. The colors glide and blend so smoothly, but there are quite a few colors that are a bit chalky and streaky, but still blendable. For the price I’m paying for the palette, I’m not mad about one or two of the colors being chalky (note: I’m not saying that all of the palettes have at least one that is chalky, just a general comment). The combinations in the palettes are very beautiful and the reason why I want to have all of Colourpop’s eyeshadow palettes. It is my mission to own them all! Below are swatches of the palettes I have. Leave comments below on any questions you may have regarding the palettes!

My Little Pony – This palette has 12 colors and you can purchase the palette here for $16.00.

Golden State of Mind – I got this when it first came out and now you can purchase it here for $20.00 instead of $26.00 (don’t know how long that price will last). This palette has 15 colors.

Super Shock Shadow, Supernova Shadow, and Super Shock Cheek

Super Shock Shadows – I really like these and the colors (Colourpop offers) are so fun. You can purchase them here for $5.00 each. They are very pigmented! However, because of the formula in these, you would either have to apply with your finger or use a flat tip brush to apply to your eyelids.

Supernova Shadow – I only own one color, so my opinion is based on one color.

I think it works great and it is cheap compare to other brands that have liquid eyeshadows. The color dries somewhat quickly and multiple layers may be necessary for the color to stay on. If you apply it, and want to spread it evenly, use your finger or a flat tip brush. I’d suggest the finger because the flat tip brush could still wipe off some of the color from your lid. Colourpop doesn’t have many colors available because it is still new, but I am looking forward to getting more of these. You can purchase them here for $7.00 each.

Super Shock Cheek – Again, I only own one of these, so my opinion is based on just the one I own. I will be getting more in the near future because I really like these; however, I just hate that it comes in a pan instead of a palette (I prefer palettes). So when you touch the formula, it feels wet and buttery soft and when you apply it, it just melts onto your skin for a perfect glow. You can purchase them here for $8.00 each.

Lux Lipsticks – I love these lipsticks! The formula is a creamy-matte finish. It is very pigmented too. In terms of whether or not these are long-lasting will depend on what you are doing. If you are wearing these out and do nothing with your lips, they will be long lasting. However, if you eat, drink, etc., these won’t be long lasting at all. You can always apply another application though! I swatched some of the colors below. You can also check out my instagram to view the video I made for swatches of the Lux Lipsticks! You can get them here for $7.00 each. IMG_1048

Overall, I am really starting to love what Colourpop has to offer. The Colourpop team is very creative and continues to come out with new products. I love that they have themes when they launch products or launch products in bundles. The price is also very affordable which makes Colourpop products very likable and worth trying. If you’ve never tried Colourpop or dislike them at the beginning (like me), try using the products now, you might not be disappointed. Colourpop has a wide variety of products to choose from, not just products in this blog.

Below is the look I made using Colourpop products:

Eyeshadow: Minty (from my little pony palette) as a transition shade. Opulent (from element of surprise palette) on the lids. New Magic super shock shadow in the middle of the lids.

Highlight: Off Tropic Super Shock Cheek

Lips: LA Lady Lux Lipstick

  1. I also didn’t like ColourPop at first because I also started out with their matte lipsticks, and it’s really not a good formula at all. It’s really drying and any time I wear it I have to exfoliate my lips afterward. Their highlighters are some of my favorites though, and I’ve really been wanting to try their eyeshadows as well.
