RED LIPS always come into my mind when I think of holiday looks. Red lips are constantly used for all sorts of occasions, especially for the holidays. If you want to rock red lips for this joyful season, here are some of my favorites.
CREAMY FORMULA
Pony Effect Outfit Velvet Lipstick (Dark Fantasy) – This is a Korean cosmetic brand. The formula is very creamy and semi-matte. It feels light weight and does not have the wet feel on the lips. I really like this brand. Swatch down below (Sorry all my swatches are blurry, I will invest in a better camera in the future!)
Kylie Cosmetics Red Velvet Lipkit – I’ve mention this before in my previous post, but I absolutely love Kylie’s velvet formula. This Red velvet lipkit it so creamy and feels like nothing on the lips. It is really such a beautiful color. However, it is not smudge or transfer proof. Swatch down below (Sorry all my swatches are blurry, I will invest in a better camera in the future!)
LONG LASTING FORMULA
Beauty Bakerie Cranberry Stiletto Matte Lip Whip – This formula is creamy when you apply it. It stays wet for a little bit until it dries into the matte formula. Once it dries to matte, the formula is very long lasting; in other words, it is very transfer and smudge proof. You can eat and drink whatever and you will still have lipstick on your lips. I got this lip whip to try out the formula but I think I would rather pay for the Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink (reviewed below) instead. Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink – VERY VERY similar to Beauty Bakerie Matte Lip Whips if not exactly the same. Everything about this formula is practically identical to Beauty Bakerie Matte Lip Whips. It is creamy when first applied and then dries to matte. When it is matte, it is very long lasting as well. The applicator for this is the same as the Lip Whips. The only difference between the SuperStay Matte Ink and the Lip Whips is the price. The SuperStay Matte Ink ($9.49) is half the price less than the Lip Whips ($20), which is why I rather buy this. You can enjoy the SuperStay Matte Ink more because it is more affordable and it is still great for the holiday season because you will still have lipstick on after you eat and drink! OVERALL BEST FORMULA
Pat McGrath Luxetrance Lipstick (Sedition) – I love all sorts of lipsticks and lippies. I am a fanatic for trying out different ones, but Pat McGrath’s lip products are HANDS DOWN THE BEST LIP FORMULA I’VE EVER USED. This Luxetrance Lipstick in particular is very very creamy and comfortable on the lips. However, it is not completely smudge or transfer proof. Sedition is a very very pretty classic red color, but I think the tone is very compatible for my skin tone. The thing I like about this lipstick is that the color is so strong that it leaves almost a stain on your lips. So even if you go through the day and this lipstick wears out, you will still have the color on your lips. BUT DON’T WORRY, you will still be able to take the stain away with makeup remover. Although Pat McGrath products are very pricey, it is worth to own at least one lipstick. Swatch down below (Sorry all my swatches are blurry, I will invest in a better camera in the future!)
OTHERS
Lime Crime Mini Liquid Lipstick (jingle) – This has a metallic finish. I like Lime Crime metallic lipstick, which can be found here. The formula is very creamy and the metallic is very bold. The colors are very pretty. The only thing I don’t like is the smell of these lipsticks. Some may like it but I don’t. Victoria’s Secret Pure Metal Intense Lip Lacquer (ignite) – VS has been uping their lip game. This is suppose to be a metallic finish, but it is more of a very very glossy look to me when applied (like my lipgloss be popping). The color lasts for a while; however it feels a bit heavy and sticky, but isn’t to the point where it is bothersome. The color is beautiful nonetheless, and it is very affordable.
It wasn’t until I uploaded the photos that I realized that the pictures are very blurry and not high quality. I will work on getting better pictures for you guys! Thanks for reading all the way through!
