Dragun Beauty: The DragunEgg Transformation Kit Review

ABOUT DRAGUN BEAUTY

Dragun Beauty was created by Beauty Influencer Nikita Dragun. According to Nikita (who is a transgender woman), Dragun Beauty was created for transgender people and for all people. Dragun Beauty’s launch consists of two complexion products: DragunFire Skin Perfecting Potion ($25), which is a universal color corrector, and DragunHeart Transformation Face Powder ($35), which is a setting powder palette to highlight the face. These two products are offered together in the DragunEgg Transformation Kit ($55).

DRAGUN BEAUTY REVIEW

When I heard that Nikita was dropping a color corrector (and not a liquid lipstick like everyone had thought after seeing her first reveal promo video), I was ecstatic because this was a different product coming into the beauty industry, and I was also looking for a new color corrector (because the last one I had didn’t work so well). So during Dragun Beauty’s initial launch, I was able to get my hands on the DragunEgg Transformation Kit.

The packaging is very unique and cool. The two products come in a purple egg (THE DRAGUN EGG). For a higher cost, you can get a bedazzled purple egg. The packaging also includes a poster of Nikita with a thank you note on the back of it and a Nikita Dragun Beauty cash bill. See picture above in the title or picture below in the final thoughts section to see the packaging and what is included in the package.

DragunFire Skin Perfecting Potion

The DragunFire Skin Perfecting Potion is suppose to work on all skin tones and to help “conceal, correct and perfect the appearance of dark circles, discoloration and blemishes.”

Dragun Beauty claims that the DragunFire Perfecting Potion:

– is the first step in Nikita’s Skin Perfecting System – acting as a second skin and the primer to the primer.

– Neutralizes everything from purple, blue, grey discoloration to dark circles and beyond.

– Allows for ample playtime delivering detailed and specific application.

– Promotes optimal skin health with Almond Oil, Shea Butter and added emulsions.

– Creates the perfect layer for light, medium and full coverage foundations.

How I use a color corrector and the reasons why I wanted to get the DragunFire perfecting potion were because I wanted to cover my 5 o’clock shadow and blemishes.

The wand applicator is a thin tip that is flexible (see picture above). This makes it very easy to use and to reach anywhere on your face. The color of the formula is this orange-red (see below to see color on skin).

The application onto the face is very smooth and it blends very easily. However, a little product does go a long way. Just do little small strokes or even small dots. I made the mistake of added too much onto my face the very first time and my whole face, even parts where I didn’t want it, was covered in the perfecting potion. See the pictures below to see the application of the DragunFire Skin Perfecting Potion.

The formula blends very easily and it doesn’t disappear (like other brands) while blending. It also blends very easily with foundation over it and the perfecting potion actually stays when you put foundation over it; as in the perfecting potion does make a difference by creating a first layer underneath the foundation. Foundation goes over the perfecting potion very smoothly and doesn’t create any weird texture bumps or cracks. In my opinion, this color corrector does work well for me in covering my 5 o’clock shadow and my blemishes. However, this color corrector does make my overall complexion just a little bit darker once I blend my foundation on top, which may not be noticeable to some people.

Below are 3 sets of pictures: 1) just my bare face (left column), 2) just wearing foundation (middle column), and 3) wearing foundation with the perfecting potion (right column).

I decided to test out the DragunFire Perfecting Potion over this past weekend because I was (still am) having hormonal breakouts. What I noticed is that there IS a difference between just wearing foundation and wearing foundation with the perfecting potion, BUT NOT MUCH if you have just small blemishes. Just wearing foundation and wearing foundation with the perfecting potion both cover my smaller blemishes. However, wearing foundation with the perfecting potion does cover my bigger blemishes (and my big cystic acne that are finally wanting to come out….sorry if TMI) better. The perfecting potion also helped cover my 5 o’clock shadow. Further, wearing foundation with the perfecting potion does also give me more of a perfect flawless filter; however, wearing the perfecting potion does give me more of a red/darker complexion than just wearing foundation alone, but only just a tad bit. It may not even be noticeable to some people. My face also feels a tad bit heavier (due to the fact that there is essentially another layer), but doesn’t look “cakey.” You can see side-by-side comparison below (please excuse me for my “death-looking” face lol).

DragunHeart Transformation Face Powder

DragunHeart Transformation Face Powder is a setting powder to help highlight/brighten the face.

Dragun Beauty claims that the DragunHeart Transformation Face Powder

– is the last step to Nikita’s makeup routine.

– Adheres amazingly to skin with creamy, buildable formulation.

– Conditions skin with emollients and specially formulated polymers for increased wear and glide.

– Brightens skin with subtle amounts of glowing pigments and pearls.

– Delivers a silky feel with Cocoa Seed Butter and Vitamin E.

The formula of the powder is pretty creamy and definitely does not apply to be a “cakey” look on the face. The formula definitely felt very creamy and not chalky. However for application, it is very light/subtle and you have to build it to get it to where you would like. It took me multiple applications to get it to pop just how I like it. The powder does actually brightens though, so don’t worry about that.

You can use one of the colors or you can use both colors at the same time. I like to use both colors because I think it gives me a better color to highlight the areas I want to brighten. I like to use DragunHeart to highlight right under my eye area, the tip of my nose, a little bit of my chin, and a little bit of my forehead. See pictures below to see what the DragunHeart application looks like. Scroll further to see my final makeup look incorporating both the DragunFire Perfecting Potion and DragunHeart Transformation Face Powder. Please note that I did not use concealer at all for any of these pictures, including the final look picture.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Overall, I think both products do what each set out to do. I am really IMPRESSED with the DragunFire Perfecting Potion because it blends easily and it stays in place. This is the BEST color corrector I’ve used thus far. I also like the DragunHeart Transformation Face Powder too. At first, I didn’t see my need/want for it, but when I did a full face of makeup, I noticed how much better my whole makeup look looked, even without using concealer. Both products have exceed my expectations. I believe that incorporating both products really do “TRANSFORM” your makeup look to a whole new level. Nikita and her team really worked hard on these products because the packaging makes you feel like you are receiving a PR package and the quality of the products are superb.

Dragun Beauty will be restocking these products on Wednesday, April 17th at 12pm PST (2pm CST). I hope this review will help you decide on whether or not to get your hands on some Dragun Beauty products.
